Dear students, teachers, and parents,

Dear students, teachers, and parents,

We are quickly wrapping up the fall semester.  This Sunday will be the last instruction week before the final exam on December 6.  There will be no class on November 29 due to Thanksgiving recess, which will give students an extra week to review what they have learned before the final.

On December 6, all Chinese classes will have their exams at the regular time from 1-3.  We will then have our year end party at which students will give performances.  The whole school gathering, from 3-5, is a fun filled event and will take place in the auditorium (Room 2650) in the Humanities.  This is our traditional event and families and friends are invited to attend.  The performances by students will be a reflection of what students have learned in the classes and they are their ¡°show and tell¡±.  The school will provide drinks, fruits and snacks.  I hope to see you all there.

I received an email from Cynthia Koerber in Department of East Asian Languages and Literature of UW.  She is updating a list of translators/interpreters.  She gives out the list to the general public in the Madison community when she gets a call for such service.  If you are interested in getting on the list, please email me back and provide your name, language/dialect and how you would like to be contact (phone, email, fax, etc.)

We are always looking for some parents to step up to serve on our board.  If you don¡¯t already know, the board is consisted of parents who have a keen interest in seeing their students get the best of their education in our school.  Board members are volunteers.  They help administer the school operations, such as scheduling classes, paying and hiring teachers, enrolling students, managing books and supplies, maintaining and updating the website, communicating between students, teachers and parents, and making decisions on various issues.  We currently have seven members on board.  I have been serving on the board since my older son started coming to Chinese school.  Over the years, I have watched many of our older students moving on to colleges and new and younger students coming in with lots of energy and enthusiasm.  It is a great pleasure getting to know many of you and making friends.  As my own children get older and move on, I hope to be able to retire soon.  If anyone who is interested in serving on the board please let me or the board know (board@mcls-wisc.org).  All it takes is some one with a well meaning heart, dedication and willingness to serve the community.  I will be here for a while and can help make the transition smoothly.

Thank you all for your continued support.
